  1. Google Form - MFA Exhibition

What aspects of this course were most useful or valuable?

6 responses

  1. Resources and Guidance, The Time available to use as a student was also beneficial

  2. The class was super organized in a way to help us meet particular goals without feeling overwhelmed. It was helpful to have the writing class & then this class time to focus on crafting the thesis writing in more detail.

  3. This course really opened my eyes to what goes into planning a solo exhibition and building my CV by applying to shows. Meg is also just a wonderful teacher and every class I’ve taken under her tutelage has been insightful and fulfilling (in that order).

  4. I think that having a consolidated course with all of the graduating students was a great way to stay organized and motivated on the MFA Thesis. The level of thesis prep, orals prep, and MFA Exhibition prep was intense but necessary.

  5. Scaffolding and having regular due dates to keep us on track. It was also helpful to continue working on our thesis. It worked well to have the thesis writing class fall semester and make revisions in this class in the spring semester. Our theses greatly improved from December to March through peer and teacher reviews in this class. Also the thesis paper is important and prepared me for teaching, artist talks and other professional endeavors.

  6. Feedback on my thesis writing

  1. n/a

  2. unsure...

  3. Online meets. Make it in person only, within reason. I understand the hybrid learning aspect of it is likely here to stay.

  4. In all honesty if the course maintains being a 3 hour course I don't think its necessary to have a graded assignment for new artwork made for this course. most all students are in two other studio courses and do their MFA exhibition work in those and therefore when it came to submitting new work for this class it was daunting and too much for most everyone. It felt like we weren't doing "enough" to justify a good grade for art making in 3 separate courses in addition to thesis writing, orals prep, and all of the outside work that goes into orchestrating the group exhibition.

  5. It being only 3 hours. It was too stressful to have two other classes in addition to everything required for the thesis show. If it absolutely must stay a 3 hour course, it should meet just once a week and not include critique/making of work. I have to maintain full time for my financial aid, but this course should be the majority of what I'm focusing on and requires so much time.

  6. Less writing and revamping thesis

Start - what would you like to start in the course:

  4. I'd like to see it start being a 6 hour course.

  5. Start meeting once a week and reduce workload if it remains 3 hour credit.

  6. More promo packet and get out plans as far a professional practices

  1. Supportive, and very flexible with time available to students

  2. considerate & accessible

  3. Meg stepped onto my committee without hesitation when one of my original committee members stepped down. Meg improved my committee as she is a difficult person to please (in the context of a critique) and doesn’t pull critical punches. She made me work harder.

  4. Meg literally gave us her all. She genuinely was passionate about our success and I felt like she made this class a priority. She also recognized and valued our struggles and hard work. She valued our mental health and would occasionally make exceptions to accommodate.

  5. Meg is very supportive and fosters a sense of community within our group. She is generous with her time and creates a safe space in class.

  6. Positive feed back and constructive and actually really read my thesis. recognizing anxiety being understand and aware with active listening
